I did not get to see the premiere Greys anatomy but I did catch Private Practice.. Answer Save. for me I lost interest in Greys anatomy after Grey almost drowned and yet somehow she lived and didnt have any brain damage or anything.. that episode just ruined it for me. The Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice aired for six seasons, and in that time, told many dark stories. Grey's Anatomy takes this formula and runs with it super well, crafting strong episodes that feature compelling patients along with lots of personal drama for the doctors. This is something that the show does better than Private Practice since the latter features a different set-up for its sixth and final season: each episode focuses on one character for the most part.
